Dolcissime amiche e simpatici amici, rieccomi. Mi trovo a San Agustin, ormai quasi al confine con l’Ecuador dove dovrei arrivare fra qualche giorno. Scendendo verso sud ho attraversato la “zona cafetera”, dove appunto si coltiva il caffè. La Colombia è infatti la terza nazione al mondo produttrice di caffè dopo il Brasile e il Vietnam, il famosissimo caffè vietnamita.
Lì mi sono fermato 5 giorni a Salento, non in Puglia ma il nome viene da lì perché per qualche motivo nella “zona cafetera” le città hanno preso i nomi da varie parti del mondo, me ne sono accorto con spavento sul pullman quando risvegliandomi ho visto i cartelli: Jerico… Damasco… Palestina e ho pensato cavolo devo aver proprio saltato qualche fermata!
Salento è una piccola cittadina fra i monti e in quei giorni è avvenuto un paradosso: nonostante stando lì bevessi continuamente caffè perché me lo ritrovavo sempre intorno, non riuscivo a smettere di dormire! Mi faceva l’effetto opposto. Cioè, non è che mi svegliavo tardi, però poi dopo mangiato un pisolino ci scappava sempre e la notte un paio d’ore dopo cena già mi rificcavo sotto le coperte. Forse sarà stata anche colpa dell’aprile dolce dormire, ma comunque quelle montagne mi hanno fatto venire una sorta di pigrizia, un non voler far nulla tutto il giorno. Per carità, non che altrove venga preso da raptus che mi facciano afferrare un piccone per correre giù in miniera a scavare, ma lì mi sentivo particolarmente accidioso. Forse avevo bisogno di un po’ di riposo e
probabilmente ha influito anche lo sbalzo di temperatura e clima in generale. Sono passati solo alcuni giorni ma mi sembra così lontano il caldo sole della costa caraibica. Salento e San Agustin sono a quasi 2000 metri, fa freschetto, c’è umidità e piove tantissimo.
I tratti di strada sono stati molto piacevoli perché benché in buona parte della Colombia ci sono montagne e valli, qui sono particolarmente spettacolari, a strapiombo e con tante cascate. Fra l’altro da queste parti fino a pochi anni fa i turisti non potevano venirci per via del forte rischio di venir sequestrati dai guerriglieri (in effetti sono posti talmente belli che i turisti ne rimangono… rapiti. Questa è una cretinata di battuta che mi ricordo fin dai tempi di Drive-in, si riferiva alla Sardegna).
Forse anche per questo motivo ci sono molti posti di blocco della polizia e una volta, nel tratto fra Armenia e Popayan, ci hanno fatti scendere tutti dal mini-bus per perquisirci e si sono accaniti soprattutto su di me, forse perché straniero, perdipiù italiano e frequentatore di nipoti di Escobar.
Hanno trovato un 4 o 5 tasche segrete nel mio zaino fotografico di cui ignoravo l’esistenza e poi tirando fuori le rivestiture interne me l’hanno praticamente scassato, insieme al cazzo. Ma tanto “addà turnà zio Pablo” con la sua taglia da mille dollari eheheh 
Ah, in tutto questo non hanno controllato le due tasche principali, quelle davanti, in cui avevo 3 chili di cocaina!! Scherzo ovviamente, ma sarebbe stato il massimo.
Sia nei pullman che nelle strade ci sono manifesti in cui si invita a denunciare, sotto ricompensa, i guerriglieri o sospetti tali e alcuni di questi manifesti sono, giustamente, crivellati di pallottole.
Ora mi trovo a San Agustin, dove ci sono splendide e misteriose sculture in pietra di una civiltà di cui si ignora quasi tutto. Si sa che visse da queste parti almeno fin dal 3300 a.C., per poi svanire nel nulla poco prima dell’arrivo degli spagnoli.
Ho già visto un centinaio di statue e secondo me non hanno nulla da invidiare ad altra straordinaria arte pre-colombiana più famosa come degli incas o dei maya.
La loro scoperta è abbastanza recente e molte di esse sono venute alla luce solo nel secolo scorso. Anche il fatto che, come dicevo, queste zone sono state fino a poco fa teatro di guerriglia ne ha probabilmente rallentato la conoscenza nel resto del mondo.
Le sculture rappresentano a volte uomini o donne, a volte animali e spesso un misto. Stavano di solito davanti alle tombe, come a guardia, e venivano ricoperte con esse sotto piccole montagnelle di terra.
E’ davvero difficile risalire alla società che le ha create perché non sono stati riscontrati contatti con altre civiltà e a parte queste sculture, circa 500, sono stati ritrovati solo alcuni utensili, gioielli e i soliti vasi rotti (dopo tanti viaggi sono giunto alla conclusione che il principale hobby degli antichi di tutto il mondo era fare vasi, scassarli e ficcarli nelle tombe )
Come sempre, negli anni i tombaroli hanno fatto moltissimi danni, distruggendo e portando via oggetti di valore.
Sono sparse in diversi siti intorno San Agustin di cui il più grande è il parco archeologico, a 3 km.

Come dicevo, spesso si trovavano a guardia delle tombe, coperte di terra con esse.
E spesso hanno tratti umani e animali assieme.

Dalle immagini sulle sculture si è potuto risalire ad alcune loro caratteristiche: abiti che indossavano, ornamenti, armi e alcuni cibi, ma per il resto ci sono solo supposizioni.

Ciao Piergiorgio 2 – la vendetta. Sì e all’amico di Mompos facciamo fare la parte del sicario (se non lo è per davvero). Io invece pensavo a questo punto di creare il cartello di Dekaro, tanto gli agganci ci sono! (Scherzi a parte, quando gli ho chiesto se aveva avuto contatti con la mafia italiana ha fatto un eeeeehhhh manco gli avessi chiesto se c’è acqua nel mare! Poi ha aggiunto è ovvio, figurati, è in assoluto una delle mafie più grandi.
Inoltre, mi ha fatto vedere una statuina che ha proprio all’entrata della casa, una sorta di madonnina vestita con abiti settecenteschi e con un vaso di fiori in mano, dicendomi che è la stessa che usano i mafiosi italiani per protezione).
Ciao zia Marina. La domenica delle palme mi ha colto di sorpresa, non sapevo che era quasi pasqua, ma dopo è stato impossibile dimenticarsene perché per tutta la settimana seguente ho beccato continuamente processioni, prima a Mompos e poi a Salento.
