Rieccomi già sveglio, caldo in stanza, ventilatore che fa più rumore di un Aereoflot, traffico dalla strada ma soprattutto tensione che cresce per la finale. Un paio d’anni fa avevo dichiarato pomposamente che non avrei più seguito il calcio (prova inconfutabile qui) ma purtroppo al cuor non si comanda, anzi mi ha fatto un effetto da pentola a pressione e benché voi sapete come sono estraneo a qualsiasi forma di violenza, e lungi da me ogni esaltazione di essa, nonostante tutto se in questo momento mi trovassi di fronte a uno spagnolo una coltellata in panza è assicurata. Anzi meglio ancora: lo butto nella “bocca dell’inferno”, il cratere del vulcano attivo qui vicino a Granada, dove mi trovo.
Vi racconto velocemente questi ultimi giorni, avrete notato che ultimamente scrivo di meno, tanto io scrivo, voi non leggete, facciamo l’arte dei pazzi.
Allora. A Monteverde io e Aparicio ci siamo divisi di nuovo, lui è andato in Nicaragua mentre io a La Fortuna, un villaggio vicino un lago dominato dal vulcano Arenal. Ho fatto trekking sul vulcano, passeggiato nella foresta buia alla ricerca della più tipica rana costaricana (dopo le foto) e nuotato di notte in un fiume caldissimo, nel mezzo di un bosco illuminato solo di tanto in tanto dalle nostre pile che creavano un effetto discoteca, mentre la guida preparava cocktail. Fra i vapori acquei si vedevano e non vedevano fanciulle scandinave che si bagnavano gioiose, tipo ninfette del bosco, e vi assicuro che non avevo leccato la ranocchia costaricana (anche qui, dopo le foto).
Un paio di giorni dopo ho fatto il rafting, di cui ormai posso definirmi un veterano con un curriculum che vanta esperienze himalayane in Nepal e nel cuore dell’Africa in Uganda. Questo rafting in Nicaragua non è stato molto difficile, anche se a un certo punto un paio di ragazzi sul nostro gommone sono caduti, ma gli scenari erano spettacolari con una foresta selvaggia che scendeva a strapiombo avvolgendo il fiume.
Quindi ho completato una sorta di cerchio, ritornando a San Josè dove ho rincontrato Eva e siamo partiti per San Juan, in Nicaragua dove ci aspettava Aparicio. Lungo il cammino abbiamo anche raccolto un ragazzo tedesco e siamo andati nella magica isola di Ometepe, nel mezzo del lago Nicaragua, con due vulcani, uno attivo. Dopodiché Aparicio è tornato in Brasile, io e Eva qui a Granada, mentre il ragazzo tedesco è sparito nel nulla. No, non l’ho sacrificato nel vulcano di Ometepe per propiziarmi il favore degli dei prima della partita Italia-Germania, come già si vocifera.

Il rafting in Costa Rica, su un tratto di circa 10 km del fiume Balsa. Abbastanza semplice rispetto ad esempio a quello in Uganda (fotostoria qui).O forse non mi è sembrato difficile perché orami scendere le rapide è per me come passeggiare su un parco inglese in una tiepida serata estiva.

Vi dico la verità, la decisione è presa: ancora una ventina d’anni di questi strapazzi e mi ritiro pure io a una vita sistemata. Una mogliettina, una casarella, un po’ di tv la sera, ah a proposito, poi mi dovrete raccontare gli ultimi quaranta anni di un posto al sole così mi metterò al passo con le puntate.
Ed eccoci in Nicaragua, a San Juan del Sur. (Da non confondere con San Juan del Norte, che si trova invece ad est, mentre San Juan del Sur sta ad ovest. No, nemmeno io c’ho capito molto).
Siamo arrivati a San Juan del Sur il 24 giugno, giusto in tempo per la festa del patrono della città, nonché mio, il buon San Giovanni. Una festa molto alcolica, di tanto in tanto anch’io non disdegno di diventare cristiano, però, come vedete, c’è chi ha esagerato. Non è così che si celebra il mio santo, invierò una protesta ufficiale al Vaticano, oltre a fargli notare che sarebbe tempo di mettersi al passo coi tempi e rinominarla festa di San Dekaro. Martire, aggiungerei.
